Who We Are

Pepple Shih
President

Pepple has practised as a social worker for over 20 years, in Hong Kong, California, and Australia. She has performed clinical work in psychiatric and medical settings, led a parenting program based in attachment relationships, and currently works in health care with older people, with a special intercultural interest. She is an active member of the Australian Association of Social Workers and participated in the CIF-Sweden program in 2004.

Shirley Worland
Vice President

Shirley has been a social work practitioner for 13 years. She has worked in a variety of areas including palliative care, chronic illness, college teaching and children and family issues both in Australia and UK. She is currently undertaking PhD studies through the University of Queensland. Her special interest area is refugee studies, specifically the ethnic peoples of Burma which is the topic of her research. She participated in the CIF-India 2000 program.

Denise Grieshaber
Secretary

Denise graduated as a social worker in 1996, having undertaken one of her field placements abroad (Canada). She first practised social work in University international student support services. She is currently working as a social worker for Centrelink (Australian government social security service delivery). She has been a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers since graduation and has interest in a range of social justice issues and continuing professional development. Denise participated in the CIF-Sweden program in 2006.

Penny Clark
Member-at-Large

Penny graduated as a social worker in 1986 and has worked in a variety of areas including health, corrections, education in Australia and the USA and child protection in the UK. Her current role is Field Education Coordinator at Flinders University, Adelaide, South Australia working with both domestic and international social work students. She participated in the CIF-Finland program in 2005.

Lauri Andriske
Member-at-Large

Lauri was born in Mildura, Victoria and studied at the Univesity of NSW, Sydney. She completed her Bachelor of Social Work in 1975, and completed post graduate studies in public service management and research. Lauri has broad experience in both urban and rural practice in community health, local government, rehabilitation, and adult mental health. She is currently working in a dual diagnosis unit in Brisbane providing social work services to families and clients where the client has an acquired brain injury and mental illness. Lauri completed a four-week CIF program in Vienna in May-June 2005.
